Unitrade Metal has announced an investment in a new dismantling and separation facility for lead-acid batteries, further expanding its portfolio in the treatment of hazardous and industrial waste streams. The project is aligned with the company’s long-term strategy to develop sustainable recycling solutions and to prepare for increasingly strict European regulatory requirements.
The new installation is designed for the mechanical dismantling and separation of key battery components, including lead fractions, plastic casings, and electrolyte residues. The process is optimized to ensure safe handling of hazardous materials while maintaining strict environmental control standards.
With an annual capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes, the facility is intended to serve industrial partners and collectors from the automotive and energy sectors. Its location within the Plovdiv industrial zone ensures strong logistical connectivity and seamless integration with the company’s existing infrastructure.
The technological setup includes automated and semi-automated processes that significantly reduce human exposure to hazardous substances while improving operational safety. At the same time, it enables efficient recovery of lead and plastic materials, which can be reintroduced into the industrial value chain.
This investment is a natural step in strengthening our capacity to handle more complex and sensitive material streams. Our focus is to ensure a safe, controlled, and efficient process that not only minimizes environmental risk but also enables maximum recovery of valuable resources back into the industrial cycle.
With this new investment, Unitrade Metal strengthens its position in the industrial battery recycling segment. The project reinforces the company’s role as a provider of technologically advanced and sustainable solutions for managing complex waste streams.
